| Job Description: | World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the global conservation organization, seeks a Program Officer to support the Business & Industry (B&I) programfs private sector work aimed at developing innovative, cost-effective solutions to climate change. With over a decade of success in partnering with companies to establish ambitious, voluntary targets to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, WWF remains at the forefront of working with corporations to respond to climate change.
The Program Officer will work closely with the B&I Director and Senior Program Officers, as well as other WWF global programs and offices. This person is responsible for research and project management tasks related to the business and climate change program, which include engaging corporate partners to develop carbon reduction strategies. The primary responsibilities are as follows: (1) Research, organize, and prepare background materials on corporationfs environmental performance, with emphasis on climate change issues, such as analysis of greenhouse gas emissions. (2) Conduct outreach by calling companies, organizing mailings, arranging meetings, and coordinating publication of updated communication materials. (3) Prepare and provide concise and compelling presentations to corporate audiences. (4) Organize workshops and meetings with corporate stakeholders (e.g. coordinate logistics, secure speakers, draft agendas, contribute to content design). (5) Support fundraising activities, including developing and editing proposal narratives. (6) Represent WWF at relevant events and conferences related to climate change, emissions, reporting and reductions, and policy topics. |
| Job Requirements: | A Bachelors degree or related experience in Environmental Science/Management, Public Policy, Economics, Business or a related field is required. A minimum of 2 years experience in business, environment, public policy, or a related field is also necessary. Must be a self-starter- able to work independently in addition to being team-oriented. Must also have excellent communication skills- on the phone, in speech, and in writing. Ability to facilitate communication among geographically dispersed collaborators is desirable. Knowledge of energy/climate change sector is preferred. Strong MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint skills are a plus.
