| Job Description: | The Earth Observatory of Singapore conducts research on earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions and climate change in Southeast Asia and elsewhere. Aside from its scientific value, our work gives Singapore and other countries in the region the knowledge they need to build societies that are more resilient to these natural hazards.
Established in February 2009, EOS is an autonomous research institute funded by Singapore’s National Research Foundation , Ministry of Education and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) as part of Singapore’s Research Centre of Excellence initiative. Many of our scientists will hold joint faculty appointments in NTU’s new Division of Earth Sciences. Singapore , with a strong economy, stable political situation and highly multicultural society, offers very attractive living and working conditions. English is the official language, and salaries at EOS are internationally competitive. SUSTAINABILITY MANAGER (ECONOMICS & POLICY) We are seeking a candidate with strong background knowledge on climate change and environmental sustainability, experience in managing economic or policy research project and teams, designing and delivering workshops with senior decision makers, conducting marketing field research studies, performing statistical analysis for large scale quantitative surveys, and proficiency in building complex financial models to serve as Sustainability Manager in our Sustainability Office. Key responsibilities of the position include the design and co-delivery of senior decision maker workshops on the economic aspects of climate change in the region as well as the design and supervision of regional economic research projects on climate change and sustainability topics. The successful candidate should possess a good Masters degree in business, finance or economics, with 3-4 years of working experience in a similar field, educational/professional experience in Southeast Asia, and fluency in English, with strong presentation and communication skills. Candidates with experience in climate change/environmental sustainability economics and policy research projects and proficiency in multiple regional languages will be preferred. This position will initially be offered for 3 years, renewable.
